What is FOSS?

Free and open source softwares are those that have licenses that allow users to freely run the program for any purpose, modify the program as they want, and also to freely distribute copies of either the original version or their own modified version.

FOSS can always be used for any legitimate purpose, and never contains advertising, spyware or other malware where as Freeware is only great (no cost to acquire), but offers users none of the freedoms guaranteed by the Free Software definition. In many - not all - cases, freeware is only free under limited circumstances, is limited in functionality,and/or contains advertising or malware.

On the other hand use softwares that is freely available,publicly contributed to,and widely used/tested. Free and Open Source Software(FOSS) offer adavantage such as:

•  License fee saving
• Eco-friendly software.
• Upfront resource savings, that would have gone towards 'rebuilding the wheel'.
• Unrestricted pool of contributors, unmatched by any commercial business' workforce.
